What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. The sessions start with food, then move on to a talk and finish with some time in groups for discussion.

Alpha usually starts with some sort of food, it's a great way of bringing everyone together and sparking conversation to get to know each other. Our Tuesday Alpha will have coffee and cake while our Wednesday Alpha will start with a meal each week.

After we have shared food together we will then have a talk, these talks are designed to inspire conversation afterwards. They are usually around thirty minutes long and explore the big issues around faith, unpacking the basics of Christianity and addressing a range of questions from 'Who is Jesus?' and 'How can we have faith?' to 'Why and how do I pray?' and 'How does God guide us?'.

Each session will then finish with time for discussion, it is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and ideas on the topic. You don't have to say anything in these times but you can also share honestly and respond to the talk you have just heard in a safe and friendly environment. This time gives the chance for everyone to share and you will be able to hear other peoples thoughts on it as well as your own.
